- VetPay provides 3 months interest free finance for unexpected vet bills. You can apply online for instant approval and use VetPay at any veterinary clinic. Once you have VetPay approved, you can continue adding to it for any veterinary bill or service.
- The Animal Referral Hospital in Fyshwick and Canberra Veterinary Emergency Service in Gunghalin are both available when other vets in Canberra are closed. Both these wonderful hospitals are available to provide emergency treatment to your pet. They can access the fund on your behalf if you qualify and the amount (after any discounts or your contribution) comes to less than $1500. They can also help you apply for Vet Pay and chat to you about other options.
- Pets in the Park runs a free walk-in clinic on the first Sunday of the month between 2-4pm outside the Uniting Church in the city. To qualify for Pets in the Park you will need a referral letter from your service provider stating you are homeless or at risk of homelessness. More information can be found via the Facebook page.
- If your pet needs desexing, the National Desexing Network is nationwide and can put you in touch with vets who do discounted desexing.
- Good Shepherd provides emergency interest-free loan for emergencies such as unexpected medical bills.
- The RSPCA offers discounted desexing and some limited services, depending on their staffing levels. They also allow you to use of Centrepay. For more details visit here.
- Rainbow Paws is a wonderful charity based in Canberra that assists pet owners who need help. They can assist with food and in some cases veterinary care and desexing costs.
- OneLink connects people in Canberra to a wide range of support services. They are the central access point for Canberra's support services.
- You may qualify for the Pension Loans Scheme if you are on a disability, carers or other pension and/or are over 66 years of age.
