Founder & Vet Lead- Dr Eloise Bright
Eloise started ACT Pet Crisis Support in 2019 along with Sue who has served as Secretary since it's humble beginnings. A Canberra local, Eloise was saddened by the need to euthanase pets due to lack of money and when she heard about Pet Medical Crisis in Victoria, was inspired to start a similar organisation in Canberra. She currently works at the RSPCA as a shelter vet and runs Canberra Behaviour Vet. She lives with her wonderful husband, two young boys, Tommy the dog and Cosmo her cat. |
President - Nicky Hunt
Nicky is a born and bred Canberran who first started vet nursing at age 15. She still nurses on weekends at Belconnen Veterinary Centre as well as working full-time in the public service. She has 3 children and a growing menagerie of pets including lizards, dogs, cats, birds and hermit crabs. She reached out to ACT Pet Crisis Support to volunteer, as after working in the vet industry for over 32 years she finds euthanasing pets simply because their (often elderly) owners cannot afford care is heartbreaking. |
Vice President - Dr Ian McDonald
Ian is a scientist turned communication specialist who has lived in the Canberra region for more than 10 years but is a Queenslander through and through. He has loved animals all his life and is the current fur-father to Kronk (pictured) and Kooper the cat. He loves pets like he loves all animals and could not fathom ever having to make a decision between life and death simply due to money. |
Secretary - Sue Thomas
Sue has been helping with ACT Pet Crisis Support since the beginning and still volunteers with Pets in the Park where Eloise and she met. She is a strong advocate for the prevention of cruelty to animals and enjoys volunteering for a range of charities. She worked for 34 years with the federal police before retiring to volunteer full-time and currently lives with two rescue dogs. |
Treasurer - Alex Bai
Alex is a qualified CPA who has been working as a senior financial professional in private, NFP and consulting industry for over 20 years. Bringing extensive accounting, project management and consulting experiences, Alex oversees the financial administration of APCS, reviews procedures, reporting and advises the board on financial strategy. Alex has been an animal lover his entire life and currently has two beautiful greyhounds. |
