After a period of intensive review, we have decide to streamline our processes and have one single application type for up to $1500. When the charity started in 2019 we envisaged the 'small claims' for amounts under $250 to be an effective way to ensure that pet owners could see a vet and receive urgent care (for example pain relief). Unfortunately this funding stream has become unsustainable for the charity amd we have made the decision to cease our 'small claims' funding. Small claim funding will not be available from 1 February 2024. We are still allowing automatic approval for the ARH and CVES for up to $500 after 9pm and before 8am and up to $300 for WICA. Please submit the regular application form for our records.
Pet owners experiencing financial hardship who need non-urgent care can instead attend the Tiny Vet Clinic (TVC) for assistance.
If the care is urgent, please put in an application via the application form below for up to $1500 and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
If your patient needs dental care, please treat any concurrent diseases, perform blood tests if required, and then fill out the request form for dentistry at RSPCA ACT here. You can also send them to the TVC for an initial assessment and blood tests if the owner is unable to afford these.
ACT Pet Crisis Support is there to provide one-off assistance, to help pets and their owners when no one else can. The aim is to avoid economic euthanasia for pet owners who love their pets and don't want to lose them, but are faced with an urgent medical emergency that they cannot afford or get finance for. We do not cover routine health needs such as desexing, boarding fees, food, parasite control and vaccination (though these can be supported via the TVC). More information for vet clinics can be found on our FAQ page.
Please answer the following questions when considering partnering with us to help a pet and their owner:
PLEASE NOTE WE ARE UNABLE TO RECOUP YOUR COSTS IF THE TREATMENT HAS BEEN FINALISED AND THE PET HAS BEEN DISCHARGED FROM HOSPITAL.
Once an application is approved and the treatment is completed payment is made directly to the vet clinic within 14 days of receiving an invoice. Invoices can be emailed to: [email protected] along with your clinic's bank details.

Please answer the following questions when considering partnering with us to help a pet and their owner:
- Is the condition causing suffering and would otherwise result in euthanasia or surrender?
- Have they been declined for VetPay?
- Have they exhausted other options such as borrowing from friends/family?
- Do you feel their pet has a reasonable prognosis if treated?
- Is the condition something an average owner would treat?
- Is the condition urgent? If it is non-urgent there are other options including an interest free loan from Good Shepherd, Care and Centrelink.
